Kamonyi: Dancing Associations to get support for development

m_02 On March 8th 2013 during International Women’s Day celebrations, Hon. Alivea Mukabaramba, the Minister of State in Charge of Social Affairs and Community Development in MINALOC solicited funds for two dancing associations that entertained the guests.

Hon. Mukabaramba asked the district administration to help the dance groups form cooperatives after knowing the group members have no income apart from dancing skills.

The two associations in Kamonyi district include ‘Indatwa n’abarerwa’ group in Kagina cell and Muganza dance group in Kagina cell all in Runda sector.

George Amurani Rwirangira, Head of ‘Indatwa n’abarerwa’ group in Kagina cell says that this group has existed for long but has no uniform due to poverty.

Lack of uniform denies them the chance of getting hired or representing the district, because if they do they have to rent uniform at Rwf100000.

Rwirangira adds that lack of funds manifests in everyday life of the group members since most of them survive on pottery and sell their products in Kigali town.
